Nepal Earthquake: 3rd Anniversary
News Release/ 23 April 2018
KATHMANDU - Three years after Nepal’s catastrophic earthquakes left nearly 9,000 people dead and hundreds of thousands of families homeless, the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), with support from Red Cross Red Crescent partners, has helped make substantial progress towards recovery.
Gender, Equality, Social Inclusion and Protection is a both independent, inter-dependent
and inter-woven ingredient to mainstream and ensure Dignity, Access, Participation
and Safety(DAPS)of the vulnerable groups (i.e. women, children, adolescent girl, people
with disability, elderly, marginalized by cast and sexual orientation). This report is very
informative and we presume this initiation of program can benefit both the organization
and the community as well.
This Health Operational Plan 2018-2020 is an integral part of NRCS Health Strategy 2016-2020. The Health Strategy stipulates our priorities and components of NRCS health programmingup to 2020. This operational plan further explains how we will achieve our goal and outcome. This contains our target, required resources, intervention areas and our expectations for next three years. In the operational plan matrix projects are explained in two separate rows i.e. realistic and aspirational.
The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) Health Strategy 2016 – 2020 builds upon past health strategies and the framework set by Ministry of Health (MoH) the National Health Strategy 2016–2020 as well as stemming from the NRCS’s 7th Development Plan. The NRCS has a long-term commitment to reduce vulnerability and promote peace and solidarity in compliance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Fundamental Principles. NRCS strength is its nation-wide networks comprising of district chapters in all the country’s 75 districts, many sub branches and a large pool of volunteers across the country.
