According to Home Ministry of Nepal, Nepal Red Cross Chairman Sanjiv Thapa has been awarded with the prestigious JanasewaShree for his social work. Government of Nepal decided to confer award him on the occasion of Republic Day. He said "It's a respect that I've got for my long time humanitarian service. This has inspired me to be involved more in social work."
514 persons including some Red Cross workers have been awarded for their social work on the day. Laxmikanta Regmi of Syangja has been given SuprabalJanasewashree. Likewise, Jogendra Bhagat of Saptari and Saput Bahadur Karki of Rautahat have been given the Rastra Gaurav. Similarly, Lok Raj Dhakal of Jhapa and Naul Singh Pun of Rolpa have received SamajSewaRatna.
