Nepal Red Cross Society requests to organizations and individual donors to increase blood donation camps. Due to fall in the number of collection camps and individual donations during Tihar and Chhath festivals, there is difficulty to meet blood and blood component demands from hospitals and patients, particularly in Kathmandu valley.
NRCS has been organizing special blood donation camp in Bhrikutimandap since last three days to meet the demand. Everyday this camp opens from 11: ooam to 16 pm. Dr. Prakash Yadav, deputy director at Central Blood Transfusion Service said, "There is increasing donation in this camp and people are supporting us to manage more blood."
Red Cross has been managing blood collection and supply throughout the country since last 52 years. There are Kathmandu-based CBTS and four regional-level blood centres in Biratnagar, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Chitwan as well as district and hospital based units to carry blood transfusion services.
