IFRC's Secretary General Sy arrived Nepal
Kathmandu, Sept. 3: Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), world's largest humanitarian organization, Mr Elhadj As Sy arrived in Nepal today morning at 6:30.
Dev Ratna Dhakhwa, Secretary General of Nepal Red Cross Society and Executive Director Umesh Prasad Dhakal welcomed Sy at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA).
Sy is in a four-day official visit in Nepal at the invitation of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS). He is scheduled to take stock of humanitarian assistance provided by the Red Cross Movement after the Gorkha Earthquake, 2015 and many other activities of Nepal Red Cross Society.
Sy will be the chief guest of the special ceremony of the 56th Anniversary of NRCS on 4 September in Kathmandu; and visiting Sindhuli in the afternoon. “Secretary General Sy will visit the Red Cross project site at Sittalpati on Wednesday, and will be back to Kathmandu in late afternoon” said Umesh Prasad Dhakal.
Distinguished guest Sy will have a courtesy meeting with Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli in the morning on 6 September following meeting with Honorable Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, Sy is going to attend a gallantry meeting at Ministry of Home Affairs in the afternoon and will have a meeting with Mrs. Valeire Julliand, UN Resident Coordinator, in the morning.
