Nepal Red Cross expresses sorrow at the loss of lives of 49 passengers and crew members travelling with US-Bangala airlines from Dhaka to Kathmandu. We offer our heartfelt condolences to bereaved families.
Following the crash of the plane with 71 people on board on 12 March afternoon at Tribhuwan International Airport, NRCS immediately contacted with officials of Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and offered possible support . Upon request, NRCS provided 20 dead-body bags to the authorities for humanitarian forensic actions to manage remains appropriately. Also, ambulance vehicles and volunteers were kept ready for possible additional support.
NRCS supplied 7 units of blood and blood components, free-of-cost, to the injured persons admitted in KMC hospital.
