Silver flashes off the new sheets of corrugated iron that roof almost every building around Lachyang village, in a mountainous part of Nuwakot district, five hours’ drive from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu.
Every household did not have family latrine in Rayal VDC of Bahang, Far Western Nepal, two years back. People used to use open space and the woods for defecation. But, now the situation is changed. Each family has a latrine for regular use.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has recently launched Voices to Action, a global initiative to gather community solutions to some of today’s pressing humanitarian challenges.
The Red Cross in Nepal expresses its deep concern with increased incidents of vandalisation of ambulances in relation with ongoing demonstrations in Terai/Madhes in the past four weeks.
