Nepal Red Cross Society(NRCS) Chairman Mr. Sanjiv Thapa this Friday received an Honorary Doctorate degree in South Korea. It is his the first doctorate since becoming leader of the NRCS.

More than 35 districts of the country have been affected by flood and landslide due to heavy rainfall. One hundred eleven people lost their life, 34 injured and 9 are missing. According to district sources of NRCS, 6,606 families are displaced. A total of 10,519 families affected.

A flash flood in last three days on the Bhotekosi River has swept away at least 38 houses in Tatopani, Nayabasti and Bharabishe area of Sindhupalchok district. Nepal Red Cross Society has started support actions for the flash flood victims in Sindhupalchok.

On 25 April and 12 May 2015, Nepal was struck by two deadly earthquakes that killed 8,856 people, injured 22,309 people, and damaged or destroyed more than 800,000 houses.
Red Cross estimates that about four million people are still living in sub-standard temporary shelters.
