This Week's Episode: September 16, 2014

This year’s first aid theme highlights the need for ‘first aid heroes’ that are prepared to save lives in disasters and daily emergencies. Disaster can strike at anytime, anywhere and affect anyone. First aid training can prepare everyone, everywhere to save lives.

Nepal Red Cross organized public events in different parts of the country on this occasion and the main function is in Bhaktapur.

First aid saves lives. It is the first step in the chain of survival when emergency strikes, whether it be a daily accident or disaster, providing effective and swift action to reduce serious injuries.

Disaster can strike at anytime, anywhere and affect anyone. In emergencies, 90 per cent of lives are saved by local people. Being trained in first aid reduces vulnerability and helps build resilient communities, better preparing people to react when the next disaster strikes.

Every 5 seconds, someone in the world dies as a result of an injury. 2 More people trained and prepared to use first aid means that we can help prevent injury-related deaths every day.
